Guiding the Path: The Human Element Behind Carnain

According to Øyvind Nernæs, founder of Carnain, the name "Carnain" derives from the Gaelic term for "multiple piles of stones," which are traditionally used to guide hikers along an unclear path. These piles have a unique lifecycle, much like computer systems and applications, as they can be torn down by strong winds only to be rebuilt by people who rely on them. This cycle highlights the important human element that underpins all technological systems, as they are ultimately created, nurtured and maintained by people.

In seismic exploration, a Dip estimate refers to the measurement or estimation of the dip angle of subsurface geological features, such as rock layers or fault lines, based on seismic data. The dip angle represents the inclination or slope of these features relative to the horizontal plane. Dip estimates are crucial in seismic interpretation for several reasons: Structural Analysis, Fault Detection and Mapping, Stratigraphic Interpretation, Reservoir Characterization, Geological Modeling, Seismic Data Processing, and Risk Assessment.
